Birthday Parties

We like bouncing around in a giant inflatable room as much as the next guy, but if you are looking for something a little different for your child’s next birthday party, may we suggest the high-flying trapeze?

Our flying trapeze birthday parties are similar to an introductory flying trapeze class but we tailor it to suit the classes’ physical and/or emotional age. (We recommend 4 years old and up for birthday parties).

All our instructors are former Circus Instructors or Mini Club Counselors for Club Med. We know kids, and we know what they think is fun!

Special Events

High Flying Trapeze parties are not just for kids or exclusively for birthdays. Please consider us for your next event. It’s a great activity for a church group, bachelor/bachelorette party, fraternity/sorority activity, corporate team building, or for any group that wants to get together and have a great time.

Please contact us to talk about your event.

Our Team

Leap Flying Trapeze School was created and to this day run by a dynamic team of movers and innovators, all highly trained in the art of flying trapeze. Meet the people behind the rig.

Leap Flying Trapeze

Shain Dyckman

Shain has been teaching and performing flying and double trapeze on and off for over 10 years. Circus and trapeze have had a huge positive impact on his life. It's because of trapeze that he met Kara; they began as double trapeze partners. When he's not flying or teaching (or trying to keep up with Conor and Colby), Shain does IT Management for a global manufacturing firm.

Leap Flying Trapeze

Kara Dyckman

Kara's introduction to trapeze came while working at Club Med, where she and Shain performed a double trapeze act (Shain thought she would be a good partner because she has small wrists and ankles). Kara later performed with Canopy Studio's Repertory company while she was a graduate student at UGA. Kara and Shain left Athens and moved to Boston for a few years, but when Kara was offered a faculty position in the psychology department at UGA, they convinced Kaz and Larissa that Athens would be a great place to start LEAP!

Leap Flying Trapeze

Larissa Stouffer

Born and raised in Montreal, Canada, Larissa moved to the US when she started working for Club Med in 2004. She took her first climb up the ladder at the age of 24, shortly after meeting her now husband, Kaz, a circus instructor. It took a bit of convincing to get her up there, but she has been hooked ever since. When she isn't flying on the trapeze, she's busy taking care of their kids, Logan and Noelle.

Leap Flying Trapeze

Kaz Stouffer

Kaz began his circus training at age 14 at Sailor Circus in Sarasota, Florida. There he had the opportunity to learn different circus arts such as teeterboard, swinging, double, and triple trap, hand balancing, trampoline and others including the flying trapeze. In 2002, his passion for circus arts brought him to Club Med where he taught and performed for 4 years, and met his beautiful wife Larissa. He has taught at various trapeze schools throughout the US and Canada. Kaz is one of the leading instructors in the flying trapeze industry today.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I sign up?

Reservations can be made online, via the button on the 'Classes & Events' page, right in between the Standard Class and Workshops sections. Payment must be made in full in order to reserve your spot. Be sure to read our cancellation policy before you book your class. Please contact us if you can't book online and need to make other arrangments. If you have a Dealmobs voucher, simply go to the 'Classes' page and click on "Book a pre-purchased deal" at the bottom of the page. Enter your voucher number (the 13 digit number located at the top right corner of your voucher) and follow the steps to register for a class. Don't forget to print out your voucher and bring it with you to your class!

I’ve never done this before, am I strong enough?

Yes! Flying Trapeze is more about technique and timing than brute strength. During the class, you will be taught the all the skills needed. At the same time the high-flying trapeze is not a “ride,” so please see the next FAQ entry.

Who cannot fly on the trapeze?

Your safety is always our prime concern. If we feel you are either impaired in some way that may affect your safety or if there is something that could pose a physical risk to yourself or our team, we will ask that you not participate. If you have any concerns about your suitability for flying trapeze please contact us.

We don't allow alcohol or other narcotics on site and will not allow anyone to fly that we feel is under the influence. We also don't allow anyone who is disruptive or poses a physical risk to the other flyers.

What if I’m afraid of heights?

The flying trapeze is a great way to face and conquer the fear of heights. You are gently guided each step of the way by our highly trained staff, all helping to create a comfortable and safe atmosphere for you.

Can my child participate?

You bet! Classes are only open to children 8 and up, but children 4 years and up are welcome for parties and special events! The flying trapeze is an incredible activity for improving physical strength and ability. It is also a huge self confidence builder as there is a never-ending supply of challenges to overcome. If your child is under 12 we ask that you stay on site while your child participates. All participants under the age of 18 must have a waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian.

Who needs a waiver?

EVERYONE must have a waiver signed. Children under the age of 18 must have a waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian.

What should I wear?

Fitted or tight clothing that allows good freedom of movement is best (think athletic wear, yoga pants or capris, tights). We discourage shorts because the backs of your knees will be more comfortable on the bar if your skin is not bare. You should wear clothes in which you can move freely, but they should not be so loose that they get in your way. Jeans are discouraged as they restrict movement too much. You may wear socks or gymnastic-type shoes while flying or in the net, but no regular shoes are allowed except to walk around on the ground. The ground surrounding the trapeze can get hot so please bring some flip-flops or other slip-on shoes to wear in between turns.

Can I wear jewelry?

The short answer is “No”. We do not allow any jewelry, be it necklaces, hoop earrings, watches, and especially rings - these do not mix with high flying trapeze. We need your hands and wrists to be completely free of any accessories. Please leave all of these items at home as we would hate for you to lose them while you’re flying with us.

Is there a weight limit?

Yes, 250lbs is our weight limit.

Can I take a class without a reservation?

As we have a limited number of spots in our classes, we highly recommend making a reservation. However, we do accept walk-ins on a first come, first served basis if there is still space in class.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you cancel at least 24 hours before the class start time you will get a full refund; otherwise you will be charged the full cost of the class. For workshops you must cancel 5 days before the first class meets in order to get a refund. Cancellations should be done via the online booking system.

What if it rains?

The flying trapeze is outdoors. If we are forced to cancel class before it starts, we will refund your money. If we are forced to stop a class after it starts we will give you a “rain check,” and you will be invited to come take another class at a later date at no charge.
